Ingredients:

 

  • Water as needed
  • 1 cup rice
  • 1/4 cup urad dal
  • 1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil or ghee for cooking

 

 

Instructions:

 

  1. Rinse the rice and urad dal separately and soak them in water for 4-6 hours.
  2. Grind the urad dal with fenugreek seeds in a wet grinder or mixer to make a smooth batter. Transfer to a large bowl.
  3. Grind the rice to a smooth batter and add it to the same bowl as the urad dal batter. Mix well.
  4. Add salt to taste and mix again.
  5. Cover the bowl and let the batter ferment for 8-10 hours or overnight.
  6. Heat a non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat. Grease with oil or ghee.
  7. Pour a ladleful of batter into the pan and spread it evenly in a circular motion.
  8. Drizzle some oil or ghee around the edges and cook until golden brown.
  9. Flip and cook the other side until golden brown.
  10. Serve hot with chutney and sambar.
